Andhra Pradesh and Ranchi Report Poultry Cases
Human Case Reported in Michigan
A bird flu outbreak in poultry has been reported in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district, according to reports on February 7. Bird flu cases have also been confirmed at the Regional Poultry Farm in Hotwar in Ranchi.
Meanwhile, a human case of A H5N1 virus infection was reported by Michigan on May 22, 2024. The H5N1 bird flu is widespread in wild birds worldwide and is causing outbreaks in poultry.
Despite these outbreaks, unreported high-pathogenicity avian influenza virus continues to exist in traded poultry in India. This poses a potential risk to both poultry and humans.
