Emergency services on duty for hours - several injured

BAB 4 in the direction of Dresden had to be completely closed for several hours on Monday afternoon after a serious traffic accident at the end of a traffic jam.

According to the police, eight vehicles were involved in the accident, which occurred around 4 p.m. between the Erfurt-Vieselbach and Erfurt-Ost junctions.

The cause of the accident is still unclear. According to initial findings, a truck driver had failed to notice the end of the traffic jam in time and crashed into the back of the car in front of him. The impact caused a chain reaction, involving several other vehicles.

Several people were injured in the accident, but the police could not initially provide any details on the extent of their injuries.

The fire brigade and rescue service were on duty for hours to free the injured and secure the accident site.

The BAB 4 in the direction of Dresden had to be completely closed for several hours. The traffic jam was several kilometers long. Motorists were asked to avoid the area.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
