Tejashwi claims talks for seat sharing between RJD and Congress are completed

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said that the seat-sharing talks between the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections have been completed

The Jharkhand Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in five phases from November 30 to December 20, and the results will be declared on November 23

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress have completed their seat-sharing talks for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, according to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

In a press conference on Monday, Yadav said that the two parties have agreed to contest an equal number of seats in the 81-member Assembly.

The RJD is likely to field candidates in 34 seats, while the Congress will contest in 43 seats. The remaining four seats will be left for smaller allies.

Yadav said that the seat-sharing arrangement is "fair and just" and will help the opposition alliance to defeat the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the elections.

"We are confident that we will form the next government in Jharkhand," Yadav said.

The BJP has been in power in Jharkhand since 2014, and is seeking a second term in office.

The Congress is the main opposition party in the state, while the RJD is a key ally of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre.

The Jharkhand Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in five phases from November 30 to December 20, and the results will be declared on November 23.
