Man City 1-0 Chelsea: Silva nets winner against holders
City reach FA Cup final after Silva's header
Silva's far-post header proves decisive as City book their spot in Wembley showpiece
Manchester City booked their place in the final of the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory over holders
Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Bernardo Silva's first-half header was enough to separate the two sides in a tight and tense semi-final encounter. City started the match brightly and could have taken the lead early on when Kevin De Bruyne fired wide from just inside the area. Chelsea grew into the game as the half progressed, but it was City who took the lead in the 26th minute. A cross from Phil Foden found Silva at the far post, and the Portuguese midfielder nodded home from close range. Chelsea pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but they were unable to find a way past a resolute City defence. The Blues' best chance came in the 72nd minute when Mason Mount's shot was well saved by Zack Steffen. City held on to secure their victory and will now face either Liverpool or Newcastle United in the final on 14 May.
